Composition Award

The Georgina Joshi Composition Commission Award, created in 2007, celebrates Georgina’s love of new music and her interest in working with new composers and provides encouragement and support to an Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music student composer. The award also expands the repertoire for solo voice and instrumental accompaniment, both areas of importance to Georgina.

The recipient of the award receives a financial stipend and a commission to compose a musical work for solo voice and instrumental ensemble. The piece is premiered each Spring at an Indiana University’s New Music Ensemble concert. Click here to learn more about the Jacobs School of Music’s Composition Department.

The Addicott-Joshi Family appreciates the support of many individuals in establishing the endowment fund, The Georgina Joshi Memorial Fund, administered by Indiana University Foundation. This fund ensures The Georgina Joshi Composition Commission Award will be given each year for the benefit of student composers.
